I was reading some prayers this morning in the Book of Common Worship (Pastoral Edition) and found this beautiful, simple and short prayer:
In a Personal Crisis Teresa of Lisieux (1873-1897)
Just for today, what does it matter, O Lord, if the future is dark? To pray now for tomorrow I am not able. Keep my heart only for today, grant me your light--just for today. Amen.
Although I'm not presently going through a personal crisis, I like this prayer because it reminds me to live one day at time. It teaches me to trust in God and to ask God to help me live faithfully today.
